چکیده

This paper discusses the features of the labor market outcome in the presence of homogeneous labor and multiple unions. It is argued that contract curve agreements, or at least efficient bargaining among unions, may be improved upon by a solution with differential or non-uniform wage payments for workers affiliated to different unions. The equilibrium solution in terms of employment and/or wage bill shares implied for each union with uniform and multiple wage is investigated and confronted for the cases of: a. efficient bargaining among the unions b. fully efficient bargaining, considering Stone-Geary union utility functions and labor demand is linear. c © 2004 Peking University Press

The Role of Labor Unions in Creating Working Conditions That Promote Public Health.

We sought to portray how collective bargaining contracts promote public health, beyond their known effect on individual, family, and community well-being. In November 2014, we created an abstraction tool to identify health-related elements in 16 union contracts from industries in the Pacific Northwest. After enumerating the contract-protected benefits and working conditions, we interviewed unio...

Evasive Reform: Informalisation in a Liberalised Economy with Wage-Setting Unions

We examine the impact of economic deregulation on employer evasion of union-mandated ‘formal’ wage-contracts in an import-competing industry. We show that, if the state maintains industrial employment despite import liberalisation, through cheaper credit to firms, then employer evasion will increase, due to a rise in the formal-informal wage gap. Institutional delays in punishment of employer e...

Foreign Labor Developments

The main aspects and institutions of industrial relations remained outside the legal regulation . In fact, trade unions and employers' associations exercised joint power. Trade union...
